Montrose Colorado Charities
Philanthropy and charitable giving are
often an important part of personal financial planning. Because
charitable organizations, non-profits, and 501(c) 3 organizations are
generally designed to better communities and humanity as a whole, the
IRS allows tax payers favorable tax treatment for supporting these
organizations. Tax laws change regularly and new regulations are
emerging every year. Without proper planning individuals often miss out
on beneficial tax treatment. Without maximizing your giving you may be
sending more to the IRS than required as well as giving less than you
could to organizations you desire to support. If you are considering
making a charitable donation to a not-for-profit organization, don’t
hesitate to contact your financial team at Eldorado Financial,
registered investment advisors, to help you ensure that you are
maximizing your tax savings.
Many of these charitable organizations are working in your community
throughout the four seasons. Following are a sample of some great
organizations in Colorado West and the high country. Capital Management
and financial planning can magnify your investments in these and other
organizations.
Montrose Community Foundation
The vision of the long-time Montrose resident Cliff Baldridge led to the
establishment of the Montrose Rotary Youth and Community Foundation.
Cliff’s vision was to provide a vehicle for funding community projects
with a special emphasis on youth. The Montrose Rotary Club was chosen as
the caretaker of the organization because of its long history of
stability and service to the community. Now, a separate organization
from Rotary, fund assets are held in an endowment fund and are actively
managed by the Board of Directors. In 2006, the foundation changed its
business name to The Montrose Community Foundation to better reflect the
fact that, although youth programs remain a primary interest, grants are
made to a variety of community organizations.
The Montrose Community Foundation often serves as a partner by providing
a vehicle for enabling large grants from statewide entities to flow into
Montrose projects. The Montrose Community Foundation has received and
managed funds from:
Colorado Historical Society
Gates Family Foundation
GOCO State Recreation Fund
Bacon Family Foundation
El Pomar Foundation
Wells Fargo Foundation
The foundation also works with qualifying individuals and community
groups who want to create scholarship funds. Thanks to these
partnerships, many Montrose and Olathe area students have been given
assistance in their pursuit of post-secondary education.
