Elderado Financial, Inc. was founded to serve the needs of our clients. Our clients expect independent financial advice so we are an independent firm and they expect excellent service so we have two associates servicing each client, along with our service staff. Our clients expect us to help them solve their ever-changing needs so we change with the times to stay current. With over 27 years of combined experience, our firm is not only financially competent, but empathetic to the real issues of financial advisory clients.

How Did ElderAdo Financial Originate?

In 1993 Jim Elder decided to sell his solar energy business after twelve successful years and pursue his hobby and passion - investing. He took courses for the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and Certified Funds Specialists (CFS) designation. Jim then became a registered representative with the NASD and took continuing education classes to further his knowledge. After being disappointed with the commissioned sales part of financial planning and investing, Jim left his broker in 1998 to pursue opening a fee-only financial planning and investment management firm with his wife Janet. They founded Elderado Financial, a play on words with their last name and the Spanish word Eldorado which means a place of fabulous wealth or opportunity. In 2002 Jim and Janet decided to move their firm from a Denver Colorado suburb to a quaint scenic town in the western slope of Colorado - Montrose near Telluride, Ridgway and Ouray. Since the beginning, Janet and Jim Elder have assisted hundreds of clients with an un-biased fee-only fiduciary approach.
